"WellStrung" - Fall 2015 Champions
We have a full roster of 24 players for our 10-week team tennis season starting March 8 at Tampa Tennis at HCC, on Dale Mabry.
Four teams of 6 will compete for the trophy. Play will begin PROMPTLY at 7 pm and will end at 9 pm, sharp! The format is a regular set of doubles followed by a regular set of singles (subject to adjustment based on the time).
Subs are always needed--you must be a member of ATB but there is no team tennis fee for subs. Just drop us a note at firstname.lastname@example.org if you'd like to be added to the sub list!
The quest for the 2017 Fall Team Tennis trophy will begin on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017! We're playing on the hard courts at Tampa Tennis at HCC, adjacent the HCC Dale Mabry campus. This will be a doubles-only, 7-week season, on Thursday nights from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. The format will be best of 3 regular sets, with a 10-point tiebreak in lieu of the third set.
We're aiming for four teams of six players each. If you have a preferred doubles partner, let us know in the comments section of the registration. In balancing teams, we'll try our best to pair preferred doubles partners.
The registration fee of $45.00 covers the courts and balls for the season. You must be a paid member of ATB to register.
You can click the link under Upcoming Events at left to register, or here: http://atb-tennis.org/event-2629446.
Don't delay! The 24 slots will be filled on a first-come, first served basis. If you have any questions, you can text or call Neal Mobley at 813-389-3745. We look forward to seeing you out on the courts with us on Sept. 21!
Maybe it takes having women on the team to win as The Divas, the only team with women on it this season, captained by Diana Zarreke, clawed their way into the finals of this season's team tennis competition and pulled off a victory in the final night of play. The La La Lads had the season high in points going into the finals but couldn't hold off the surge of The Divas. Congratulations to their team, as pictured clockwise: John Myers (kneeling), Dre' Baez, Jan Moennig, Diana Zarreke, Mark Akchin and Chris Goldsmith.
Congratulations to Darrell Creighton as he captained the String Theorists to the Fall Team Tennis Championship. It was a great season that saw two teams tied for second, requiring a tie breaker based on number of games won throughout the entire season to decide who made the finals. That is a close competition folks!!!
The team, as pictured from left to right consisted of: Mark Akchin, Kim Byrd, Darrell Creighton, Ron Loida and Mark Haggett. Alberto Murillo missed the photo opportunity.
In the championship match for the Spring 2015 season, the Sets Addicts claimed the league trophy with a 7-1 drubbing of the Servivers. In the third-place match, the Handgrippers beat the Dare Devils 6-3, 6-3 in a WTT team doubles format. Congratulations to our champions, and thanks to all who participated--players and subs alike! See you in the fall!
