About the Tournament

Tampa Bay's Premier LGBTQ+ Tennis Event

Founded in 2001 by Advantage Tampa Bay Tennis, Inc., the Citrus Classic has grown into one of Florida's most celebrated GLTA-sanctioned tennis tournaments. Held each November at the historic St. Petersburg Tennis Center, it draws more than 250 players and guests from across Florida, the United States, and internationally — making it a true celebration of sport, diversity, and community.

The tournament features multiple competitive divisions from Open through D level, age-based brackets for 40+ and 50+ players, singles and doubles events, and mixed doubles — offering something for every level of competitive player. The highlight of the weekend is the Sunday evening gala dinner, where players, guests, and sponsors gather for celebration and community.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Advantage Tampa Bay Tennis uses proceeds from the Citrus Classic to fund the league's year-round programs and to support local community organizations including Courier’s Kids (St. Petersburg), Pride Foundation of Florida, and Equality Florida.
